Surprise call...

... from an old classmate during A-Level years..

* * *

Was on leave yesterday - Kai & I went to KLIA to fetch Mak Abah coming back from Umrah. I miss them sooo much! At the airport, we got to meet MakTon too (though I think Uncle D went to buy some chocs, so him we didn't see at all).

As I was helping Mak sorting out some tidbits from Makkah and Madinah, I heard my mobile ringing, and looking at the screen, I saw F.R's name displayed. For a moment I froze, not believing my eyes. Even as I was saying "Hello" to him, my brain was fast coming up with reasons for his call. "Is he getting married?" "Dia ada kat KL ke? And nak meet up with some friends?" "Is everything OK with him and his family?"

After 10 seconds I could breathe easily again. Turns out he was stuck in a traffic jam and just wanted to talk.
Traffic jam in Ipoh??
Rupanya, his definition of traffic jam in Ipoh: cars not moving for 3 seconds.
LOLs!

We managed to do some catching up - it's been ages since I've last met / talk to him. Hmm.. the last time we met was in 1998 or '99 while we were both still in UK. One of the Malaysian sports meet, if I'm not mistaken.

He told me about the new job he's starting in a couple months' time. His field of work now greatly differs from what he studied in UK. Hehe.. even he was surprised that he could enjoy his current field.

He did ask me if I were getting hitched anytime soon.
LOLs.. I don't think so, I said. But who knows, eh?

* * *

It was really nice to hear from him again.
I told him, we MUST meet up when he comes down to KL. However, I did warn him: probably only the single ones would be free to meet up.

Hhmm... I guess that list would include F.R himself, RoZ and myself.
Hahhaha!

You curious cats you

LOLs..
For you curious cats out there.. :D

"Akan ku pintal buih-buih
Menjadi keronsang menghiasi dadamu.."

(Of course, there are other lines. But.. err cukup lah, OK? Heheh...!)

* * *

However, me being the highly non-berseni person, I have no idea which puisi this one is. I only know it's by Usman Awang, that's all.

I'm still searching for the title, so I can read the entire puisi.
Any help from anyone reading is much, much appreciated! :))

Sweet, sweet SMS's

Ahh.. he surprised me.
I never expected this from him :))

Granted, those lines were taken from a puisi (err, he said it's a puisi. Ta said it's a sajak.. oh well, both are work of art eh?), they were nevertheless sweet.
Al said in his email: "someone's courting you? siapa tu?"
Kekkekeke..

Those SMS's touched me. They definitely had me smiling away today. Hehehe.. although I was bogged down with work, sempat gak tu nak sengeh sorang-sorang. LOLs..

I think I'll be paying extra attention to Ta whenever she mentions Usman Awang.

Hehe..

(Ta, SMS'ed you last night, but maybe kau dah tido. Got updates!! Call / SMS a.s.a.p!)

Common sense: Do you have it?

What is it about people (well, Malaysians really) and having (or rather, not having) some common sense?

There I was standing in line at the parking lot, behind the guy who has just inserted his Jusco card at the Autopay machine. Probably it's his first time doing it - maybe all this time the wife has been the one using this Autopay.
And yet, he looked quite confident.

Up to the point where he's supposed to insert the parking ticket into the Autopay machine (right after the Jusco card has been accepted).

Although there were no sample of how to insert the ticket into the slot, on the ticket itself was a BIG arrow, showing the way the parking ticket is to be inserted into the reader at the exit of the parking lot.
Anyone could guess that... well, that's exactly the way the ticket should be inserted into the Autopay machine as well.

But NOOOO..! He just had to insert the ticket every other (wrong) way! Main hentam je!
The machine ended up displaying "Error in inserting ticket"

*sigh*

Maybe he didn't know there was an arrow on the ticket. Perhaps he has never seen such ticket before.
Or maybe he has never parked at such a facility requiring the vehicle owners to use "Autopay" machines (prefering not to drive to KLCC, perhaps? Take the LRT, easy eh?)

Or maybe he's from another century.

I don't know.

What I can guess... he didn't use his common sense. Come on laa.. they printed the BIG ARROW on you parking ticket for a reason, you know!

Or did you really think it was a pretty lil' decoration for the ticket?

Like honey to the bees

What is it about bad boys that attract girls, like honey to the bees?

Come on, if you're a girl, and you're being honest to yourself, you'll admit that there's a teeny weeny part of you that find bad boys undeniably attractive.

So, who do you think are the bad boys?

To some, they are the guys who ride big bikes - which can be heard a mile away. To some others, a guy who's a huge flirt may fit the description of a bad boy. It could also be the guy who can't commit. Or the married man. Or it could be the one rumoured (only rumoured?) to be involved in some "lumba haram" on Saturday nights.

(For me, it's someone who either sports a goatie, or is bald. Or both.. *yummy*
Yeah, I know I'm guilty of judging a book by its cover. At least, my mind tells me that this is how a 'bad boy' would look like..)

You tell me what you consider a bad boy. My definition may not fit yours.

* * *

I remember when I was back in the UK, there's this boyband called Five (or it's spelled Fi5e or something). While a lot of articles in mags raved about one particular cute-faced Richard, it was J who caught my eyes. He sported a goatie and had one of his eyebrows pierced. Now that certainly didn't look like a nice-boy to me.

And in Smallville, while everyone else was ogling Clark Kent / Superman, I only have eyes for Lex Luthor.
*sigh* Do not ask me why, but my internal radar seems NOT to pick up the 'good boys'.
(Ahh.. now that would probably explain all the failed relationships eh? ;D )

* * *

It all boils down to... well, the ones who are out of reach. Or slightly out of reach. The ones that Moms warn their good daughters to stay away from. This is the guy that your girlfriends are trying their best to prevent you from falling in love with him. This is the guy that your overprotective brother would readily punch, in the event your feelings were hurt.

Perhaps that's where the appeal lies. Being out of reach.

After all, isn't it human nature to long for something they can't have? Isn't the one that's out of reach is the one that is most appealing to us? And of course from history we know that Eve succumbed to the one fruit that was specifically forbidden.

Or maybe...
It's a girl's secret desire to feel the triumph when she's able to capture the bad boy. And ultimately, she may think it's a challenge to transform him - from being a bad boy, to being a gentleman.

It's the taste of victory when a girl is able to say: "I did it! I changed him. He's a better man. And all because of me."

I missed out one important event!

In my eagerness to be back online (read: back to reading other people's blogs - hey, that's ONE of the ways to catch up, you know ;P), I forgot to mention one fact.

While I was discharged on Wednesday 30th March, I went to see Dr Z on Saturday 2nd April, and told him that I wanted to get back to work by the 7th. He said, the best way to heal an open wound is to keep it uncovered. And, I told him that if I leave the wound uncovered and it keeps brushing against the baju kurung, I'm just afraid it might get irritated, and then infected again.

So Dr Z suggested stitching. He said I could be admitted for an early morning operation, and by Tuesday noon I could be discharged - and be ready to get back to work on Thursday.

I told him... OK. I'll go for stitching, then.

Sunday night I was admitted to Gleneagles again.
Went inside OT on Monday morning.
Discharged on Tuesday noon.

And Thursday I'm back at work.
Eheh..
Trust me to forget such an important event, eh? ;)

***

Talking about missing an event, the Schoolgirls had a meeting to organize our secondary school reunion. That's gonna be THE event this year. And I missed the meeting!
What was I doing?

Oh.. aku dah jatuh eh masa tu? Err... was I already in the hospital? (Lupa daa..!)
Alamak.. Sorry girls. Not that I intentionally wanted to fell down the stairs in front of Ta's office. LOLs..!

OK Ta, mana dia minutes of meeting? :P
Aku still tunggu ni. (Psst, sapa ambik minutes malam tu?)

***

Now, here's an event I definitely DIDN'T miss.

To TabbyCat dearest, Happy Birthday!! (((hugs!)))
May your year ahead be filled with many, many wonderful things!

And to the 'doa' you mentioned in the SMS.. AMIIINNNNN!!!

And I'm back in the game

Oh well, maybe not 100% back in the game :P
But yes, I am back to the office, after 2 1/2 weeks being on MC.

Tonnes of work waiting for me. Oh well, that's life eh?

They're recruiting someone and he's coming in end April.
And yes, Parrot has left the Company.
Long story, and I honestly have no intention to talk much about that man. Enough is enough.

***

Since I fell down and hurt myself, there's one thing I must admit that I desperately miss..
Being behind the wheel!!
I miss driving! Can you believe that? I haven't driven in like 3 weeks plus!

I think I'll find some excuse to go to Alpha Angle. Dekat pun dekat lah, janji dapat drive!

At home, and resting (well, kinda..)

Was discharged from Gleneagles on Wednesday noon. Doc gave me MC until this coming Monday 4th April. I'm supposed to see Dr Z tomorrow, and another appointment with Dr F on Monday.

I think I'll start work sometime next week. Should be Tuesday if everything goes OK, but seriously, I hope it's no later than 7th April. As it is, I've been out of the office for 2 weeks. Bloody hell! 2 weeks?!?!
That's wayyy to long man...
Oh yes, I think that qualifies as me taking the 2-weeks' mandatory leave. Must remember to check with HR once I'm back to work.

I think the department is currently in a bit of a chaos. Long story - very, very long and probably somewhat complicated.
Will need to learn more about the situation before I can tell you guys what's going on. (Hint: something involving the Parrot. hmm... I wonder what else..)

Ahh.. After being away for 2 weeks, now I'm feeling super lazy to even think about work. I think there's a hill of things waiting for me back at the office. LOLs..

Oh well, I'll attack those pile of work in a few days' time.
Not yet. Not just yet.

Let me rest and enjoy the peace for a while longer..
