Things you learn from crosswords

OK, so my English vocabulary isn't that great. I prefer to use simple words most of the time.

And - depending on the company - sometimes I'm more comfortable with using English (simple English. Simple!) rather than the Malay language.

Lately Mak has been really into doing crossword puzzles, the one in Malay Mail daily. Sometimes I'd join her, and so we get more words figured out. More often than not, Mak would be writing down the answers and I'll be checking out the dictionary. (Hahhaha! OK, it didn't say we can't use the dictionary, right?)

So I learned some new words:

Lees: dregs / residue
Gilt: young female sow
Sleight: dexterity
Bolster: prop up (and here I could only think of the bantal peluk I use nightly)
Nippy: nimble
Imp: sprite (ghost / fairy / elf)

Oh yes.

Apparently, "fairy" is also a slang for a homosexual man.
Well, how about that?
