Doctors' orders

I received plenty of good advices (eh? advices betul ke? doesn't sound right pulak) from the comments for my previous post.
Thanks a bunch everyone!! (((hugs!)))

Among the things (if my blur brain can recall) I must take note:
1) Plenty of plain water.
2) Food that's easy to errr digest
3) Take extra vitamin C - supplements can, right? 1000mg at least daily.
4) Do happy things!
5) Lots and lots of sleep / rest
6) Don't do anything / aim for activities requiring minimum energy usage (e.g: don't go blogging )

Advice number 6 came from Naj.
Yes Doc, I'll give blogging a rest. For now ;P

So, until I blog again (let's hope it's soon), take care everyone :)
Enjoy your weekend!

Down with .. flu? fever?

I think I'm having flu. Could be fever.
Could also be that 'time of the month' again.

I've been coughing away since morning. Being cocooned in an air-conditioned office didn't help, of course. And up to now I'm still having the sniffles. Thanks again to the 'cold weather' in KL.
My throat hurts, even after having 2 lozenges earlier today it's still no better than it was this morning.

And it's crunch time now, I can't afford a day away from work.

In the blogger chatroom, when I told the room of my condition tonight, Pok Ku and Baine recommended that I drink air asam jawa.
I wonder where the Doctor-bloggers are when I needed them?
LOLs.. Marina? Naj? Where are you girls?! I need your medical advice tonight! ;)

***

*sigh*
I think it's time to sleep. Get some rest, eh?
For tomorrow is another day - filled with work, and work, and more work :P

Better set the record straight

After more than a few comments left on the possibility of anything going on between Coach and myself, I think I should set the record straight.

No. I am not even contemplating that anything could happen between us both. Coach and me both were laughing away when he responded the way he did. None of us took it seriously. :-))

Talked to Joy earlier today. She was updating me about Coach's love life - which has been an off-and-on affair for more than 10 years.
And still he waits for her.

More than 10 years of waiting?! That's a very long time, dear.

Some may call it love. At least, my romantic side would do so, I think.. hehe..

However, my sceptic side would beg to differ. (You see, at times I contradict even myself. Weird..)
I can't put a name on what to call it. Something along the lines of "hook, line and sinker" perhaps? Or stubborness? Or a wholly optimistic notion that one day their love (or rather his love) would no longer be called "unrequited"?

Or maybe.. simple plain hopeful.

For someone said, without hope, we're nothing. Nothing indeed.

So don't lah be jumping at the thought that we might have something going on in the future. Hehe...

A voice from the schooldays :-))

My mobile's screen showed a missed-call. Since I didn't recognise the number, I didn't bother returning the call.
Shortly after, I received an SMS from the very same number.

Turned out - it's my tennis coach from schooldays!! And, for a while I couldn't recall his name! Having called him 'Coach' for most of my schooldays, I don't think I paid much attention to his real name.. Hahhahaha..!!

(I remember those after school tennis lesson. I was never very good at it. LOLs.. But I enjoyed those lessons - they gave me the excuse to stop by the 7-eleven on the way back. Hey.. I needed cold drink to quench my thirst, OK? hehe)

We exchanged a few SMS and then he asked if it was OK for him to call me. And so we talked for a while. Catching up whatever we could in the space of a few minutes. He told me he managed to get hold of my phone number from Joy.

I found out he was lecturing (part-time). Also found out that he has recently opened his own law firm.
That last bit is certainly a different picture of the Coach I used to know. Hehe..

I think he's easily around 40yrs old.
Imagine that.. His own practice at 40 eh? I guess it's never, ever too late for anything. :)

***

Coach asked me if I'm married.
When I told him no, he went: What? Alamak!! Ada chance!!

Aiyoh, this man!
;P
Ke situ pulak dia.

Mr Furby on the desk

I normally update my blog from home. Despite some clutters on the desk, there's always Mr Furby to feast my eyes on. It's sooo cute!

Mr Furby on the desk Posted by Hello

I think I got Mr Furby at McDonald's - one of the promotions a few years back. When I turn Mr Furby upside down, it will produce a squeaking sound - which sounds like a cat asking for food.

I guess since we're not allowed to have cats as pets, that's the closest feline voice I'll have around me.

Oh yes, if you notice there's Mr Giggles slightly behind Mr Furby. When you press Mr Giggles' tummy, he will shake with giggles and laughter. Hehehe.. I got that during an gift-exchange session with The Girls during our buka puasa session last Ramadhan - I got it from Mel :D

*sigh* I'm surrounded by toys, it seems.

Perhaps it's time to consider getting a breathing something pet as a companion.

Old friends, older friends

I believe I've mentioned The Girls in some of my blogposts. This year, my friendship with most of The Girls are coming to 11 years. 11 eventful, exciting years. So many things have happened in our lives combined, I'd imagine we could come up with a couple adventure books or more ;))

***

Last Monday (yes, it was V-Day :P) I went out with 3 other girls - Ta, TabbyCat and Joy. No, none of them is The Girls.

I've known Ta since Standard 1. That's a whole 22 years :))
TabbyCat and Joy I've known since Form 1. Combined, that's more than 32 years! LOLs..

Among our friends from the school days, for the past few years I've been spending more time with these 3 girls, compared to the rest. Well, of course the main reason being none of them have yet to tie the knot - like me lah :P

Another reason would be of geographical fact.
Joy mostly lives with her grandma, and from my house I could reach Tok Umi's house in 1-2 minutes. Walking.
TabbyCat lives about 10 minutes away - my driving. LOLs.. By Joy's driving standard that would probably mean 5-7 minutes ;)
And Ta lives about 20-25 minutes away.

Normally Ta and Joy would be the masterminds in initiating get-togethers. Be it big scale reunions (our Buka Puasa feast last Ramadhan), or birthday celebration (for Ta's birthday last year we celebrated at Pizza Hut), or impromptu teh tarik session at a mamak stall nearby, these two are the 'chiefs' who would suddenly call up and ask: "Malam ni free? Jom gi minum." or "[Insert name]'s birthday tak lama. Apa plan kita?"

Hehe.. At each event one or both of these girls would say that they're going to retire from being the 'organiser' of upcoming events. It's time to pass the responsibility to someone else!
Alah.. tu cakap jer. Come next event, I'm sure it will be Ta and Joy again as the masterminds! LOLs..

***

We may not see each other very often. And phonecalls to each other may not be on our daily agendas, though I know these 3 girls frequently hold YM chat sessions together (it's SO not fair that I can't get on YM at the office! jealous tau!!) :P
But definitely they have a special place in my heart.

I've recently decided to tell them about this blog. So if you girls are reading this, sayang korang semua. Walaupun tak selalu spend time together, I've known you all for too long already. Dah kenal sangat dah.. hehehe..

***

Which reminds me of something someone wrote for me a very, very long time ago:

Make new friends
Keep the old
One is silver
The other is gold

So to all my friends, no matter if you're silver or gold or everything in between, love you people lots and lots.

So, bila free? Jom pekena teh tarik?

Deja vu

I've been in a sense of deja vu since yesterday morning.

In February 2001, someone broke into our house early morning. In his right hand he was holding a knife, taken from our kitchen. His left hand was grabbing my hair. Yes, I was held with at knifepoint. But InsyaAllah I wasn't hurt. Just traumatized for a while.
He got away with some jewellery, some cash and Abah's mobile phone.

That was 4 years ago.

And yesterday at subuh time, someone broke into our house. Again.
We don't know if it's the same person. We can only guess how he got in.
He took with him Abah's laptop. And that's it, I hope.

Alhamdulillah no one was hurt. We didn't get face-to-face with the robber (is that what to call him?). I think he came in through the window, but I'm not sure.

It's my busy time now, so I don't have much time on my hands to dwell on what took place yesterday morning. Otherwise I think I'll think the worst that could've happened, and be all-distraught again.

That one day in February. Again!

It's that time of the year again.

When florists are generally making bigger profits compared to normal days.
When you'll see loads and loads of red-and-pink deco at the malls.
When love songs are on air, more often than not.
When the TV stations decided to plot together and show lovey-dovey movies / programmes back-to-back for a couple days.

It's February 14th.
Some people call it Valentine's Day :P

I don't think I celebrate V-Day. Like ever.
I do, however, know that on February 14th I would go around wishing people I know "Happy V-Day!" "Happy V-Day!"
Well, to some people that is NOT celebrating.. hehehe..

***

To those who have made plans for tomorrow, that's wonderful my dears! :D
But do remember, love is not limited only to that between two people. There's also love of family members. And never forget the love among friends..
Never limit your interpretation of love.

To those who wished they're celebrating tomorrow, but, for various reasons, unable to do so.. don't despair darlings!

Love celebrations shouldn't be confined to only one day of the year. Go out and celebrate your love everyday. All 365 of them.

***

But, if you do have celebration plans tomorrow, have fun! Tonnes of it!

Happy V-Day!
(((hugs!!)))

(p.s: If you think she / he gave you to much choc, give some to me! Hahhahah..!)

Not so secret anymore? :D

Well.. I mentioned here that some of The Girls didn't quite know the existence of this blog.

Hehehe.. as of now, another one of The Girls have read my blog. LOLs..

Sheils recently set up a site for The Girls. So, I wrote something there, and somehow left a link to my blog.
I think the other Girls haven't notice the link. Only Murn.
And she did click on the link. And read my posts!!
LOLs..
I guess my blog's not so much of a secret anymore, eh? :)

Love you Murn :D Do read me up when you have the time, ok? :D
I wonder if the rest realised that I put a link to my blog in our page?

Sheils asked me (when I told her I've put a link to my blog): "Are you ready?"
LOLs.. it's not like I have things to hide.. kan?

;P

This is why I sometimes don't watch Ally McBeal

I watched Ally McBeal just now.

The following conversation between Ally and Brian (whom she just dumped) is stuck in my head:
Brian: Despite what your mother told you, you don't always know when it's the right one.
Ally: But you'll always know when it's not.

As I told one blogger (not sure if he minds me putting his name here; so for now, let's just leave him nameless :-)) ), sometimes I get miserable when I watch Ally McBeal - probably 'cause I can relate to some of her insecurites.

I do like the series. They're all a bunch of eccentric people, which somehow normalises the whole 'TV glamour' thing.

It's just that, more often than not, the show would struck into the deepest recesses of my soul. Things I didn't even know mattered to me.

Things you learn from crosswords

OK, so my English vocabulary isn't that great. I prefer to use simple words most of the time.

And - depending on the company - sometimes I'm more comfortable with using English (simple English. Simple!) rather than the Malay language.

Lately Mak has been really into doing crossword puzzles, the one in Malay Mail daily. Sometimes I'd join her, and so we get more words figured out. More often than not, Mak would be writing down the answers and I'll be checking out the dictionary. (Hahhaha! OK, it didn't say we can't use the dictionary, right?)

So I learned some new words:

Lees: dregs / residue
Gilt: young female sow
Sleight: dexterity
Bolster: prop up (and here I could only think of the bantal peluk I use nightly)
Nippy: nimble
Imp: sprite (ghost / fairy / elf)

Oh yes.

Apparently, "fairy" is also a slang for a homosexual man.
Well, how about that?

Something Mr Afundi said once upon a time

I'm remembering something Mr Afundi said to me a long time ago.
"It's not how long you've known a person; it's how well, that counts."

You might have known a person for 10 years, and one day you realise that you don't actually know that person.
You might meet someone a couple years ago, and as of today, you realise that you two know each much better than other people who have been surrounding you all your lives.

Now that I'm writing this, I also recall what made Mr Afundi said those words. Someone claimed that he knew me long before Mr Afundi and I met, and hence, that someone knows me better than Mr Afundi does.

We both begged to differ.

(I thought it was highly arrogant of that someone to say something like that.)

***

Trust me, daily interactions would mean nothing if the things you talk about are only on the surface. If I didn't open up my heart and tell you what's inside it, you won't know what's going on with me.

Another thing, when only one party does the talking and the other only listens, the one talking cannot claim he knows what's the one listening very well.
Other than the fact that the one listening can lend very attentive ears.

So I would say to everyone reading, treasure your friends - old and new.
Practice lending your ears while you open up your heart to your friends.

***

And yes, Mr Afundi was right: "It's not how long you've known a person; it's how well, that counts."

Hopefully all your friendships count :-))

e-Conversations

For 2 nights I've been having virtual chats with a few bloggers. I must thank Pok Ku for initiating the chatroom on YM.

So who did I get to meet (meet online lah) those two nights? Among them:
Pok Ku, Ijun, Amir Etc, Baine, Anuar, Suanie, Sangkelate (ok, I can't recall the blog address.. Sorry SK!). I'm quite sure I missed some names.. my apologies..

Well, it's like IRC all over again. LOLs.. Moreover with Ijun and Amir around ;P

Tomorrow's a working Saturday, so I suppose I shouldn't stay up so late, eh?
I'm still thinking about going over to Sheils' place tomorrow. Haven't decided yet, unfortunately. (Sorry Sheils & Darls, I'm still thinking! Honest!)

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Cry-baby

I think my 'kilang air mata' worked overtime today.

I guess it started with watching the last bit of "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance". The tears just came out when I saw Randi crying at the altar, while Steven explained the whole thing to Randi's family (the Coys).
I kept wiping away my tears - they just refuse to stop.

And then, I managed to catch the last few minutes of the "Phenomenon". Yeah, the one starring John Travolta and Kyra Sedgwick.
Again I couldn't hold back the tears. (Apasal hari ni extra sensitive ni?!)

Abah came home while I was watching it, and he saw me crying in front of the television.
"Ish ish. Ni buat apa ni? Sampai nangis nangis?!"

*sigh*
What can I say exactly?
I'm just a big cry-baby tonight.

I wonder why...

This is me :))

Sheila sent this to me earlier through YM.

Awwww...! Sweet nyer!

I wonder when you did this? Hmm.. another project eh? :-)))
